James Suckling / BWW2024 Finalist, Wine Writer (United States)  had a tasting of  23 Wines  from  7 Producers

Joseph Phelps Insignia 2018 / Blackberry and black chocolate with mint, conifer and clove. Sweet tobacco, violets and flowers, too. Some graphite. Cool and complex. Full-bodied with ultra fine, dusty tannins and a wonderful, extremely long finish. Savory and refined. A classic-styled 2018. This needs time, but is so approachable and gorgeous. One of the best Insignias ever. Alive and changing all the time. 40% Stags Leap AVA. 87% cabernet sauvignon, 8% petit verdot, 3% malbec and 2% cabernet franc. Leave this for five or six years, but so wonderful now.

Pekka Nuikki / Editor of the Fine Wine Magazines and Champagne Magazine, Wine Writer (Finland)  had a wine moment

“The Romanée-Conti 1934 stands as a poignant testament to the passage of time, offering a rare glimpse into the past. Each sip evokes contemplation, a reflection on the vineyard's hallowed terroir, and the hands that crafted this liquid history."

Upon pouring, the wine unveils its age with a deep garnet hue, with edges gently fading into a tawny amber, suggesting its many years of storied evolution. The clarity of the wine, given its age, is remarkable, a testament to its impeccable provenance and storage.

The nose unfolds with an opulent bouquet of dried cherries, black tea, and wilted roses. Layers of truffle, forest floor, and aged leather reveal themselves, adding depth and intricacy. Notes of dried herbs, like sage and thyme, provide a delicate counterpoint to the more profound, earthier aromas.

On the palate, the wine's texture is ethereal, with softened, silky tannins framing a complex mosaic of flavors. While the fruit has certainly receded, what remains is a sublime essence of dried strawberry and fig, melding harmoniously with savory notes of sous-bois, tobacco leaf, and antique wood. An impressive minerality underscores the wine, providing a thread of vibrancy that carries through to the finish. As the wine lingers, hints of sweet spices, perhaps nutmeg and anise, make a fleeting appearance, enhancing the overall complexity.

Stuart Robinson / thevinsomniac.com, Wine Blogger (Australia)  had a tasting of  10 Wines  from  7 Producers

Break Free Enfant De Lune Syrah 2021 / Single Vineyard wine, fruit from the Frankland River region. “Child of the Moon", or born of the moon. Harvested in the cool, by moonlight. Ten days on skins, unfiltered and unfined. Just fermented juice it would appear. Juicy fruit nose, like the blackcurrant pastille you sucked on as a kid. Subtle baking spice hints, touch of old wood in the frame.

Lithe, supple - not giving any hints to its 14.5% alcohol - with a wicked peppery lick across the length of the wine. It's juicy with a fine grip of subtle tannin, body to the persistent berry driven character present. Fun gear. 91

XF is a Rosé based on a wide choice of grape varieties: 35% Garnacha, 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Viura, 5% Maturana and 5% Tempranillo. The production of this special blend of white and red grapes is complex. The white grapes will macerate for two days before pressing. One week later, the must of the red grapes will be added. This must had skin contact for 72 hours. The fermentation will be initiated by autochthonous yeasts under temperature control.

Richard Juhlin/ BWW2024 Finalist, Wine Writer (Sweden)  had a tasting of  12 Wines  from  7 Producers

Krug Clos du Mesnil 1982 / The wine of the vintage. More Krug-like than Mesnil-like. The color is reminiscent of a big, white, toasted, oak-barrel Burgundy—even the scent points in that direction. It has an oriental, spicy nose. Toffee, honey, coffee, linden, cream, butterscotch, sun-ripened oranges: it's got everything! Enveloped in a Corton-Charlemagne-like fat, nutty, enormous taste. The acidity is incredibly high but it hides beneath a layer of sweet fruit. One of myWINNERS  at the Millennium Tasting. The last two bottles have shown a rich big maturity and less refinement so the gigant is now down on 98 points.

Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese 2019 / 99 points. Served blind. Honey, raisins, detailed, rich, apricots, layered and complex.
Fresh acidity, lucious, rich, intense, deep, layered, incredibly sweet yet playful, raisins, sultanas, deep, nuanced, long. Stunning TBA.

Pekka Nuikki / Editor of the Fine Wine Magazines and Champagne Magazine, Wine Writer (Finland)  had a wine moment

“Château Lafite Rothschild 1899 presents an ethereal journey through time, embodying a delicate balance of resilience and evanescence. The color, a softly faded brick red, hints at its venerable age, yet the brightness at the core whispers of a vitality that defies the decades.

The bouquet is a symphony of dried roses, soft leather, and a nuanced melody of underbrush and forest floor. Swirling in the glass, it unveils secondary notes of tobacco leaf, dried fig, and a trace of worn, antique wood.

On the palate, the wine speaks softly but with profound depth, its diminished fruit elegantly supplanted by an earthy tapestry of mushroom, truffle, and dried herbs. Delicate tannins gently caress the palate, while an ethereal acidity maintains a remarkable freshness, guiding the wine to a prolonged, subtly spiced finish.

In its gentle decay, this illustrious vintage narrates a story of centuries passed, offering a momentary glimpse into the vanished world from which it sprung.

John Devin, Wine Dealer (United States)  had a wine moment

“Château Latour 1961 is another legendary vintage from this esteemed Bordeaux estate, and like the 1945, it is highly regarded as one of the finest wines of the 20th century.

The wine have evolved to a deep garnet or brick-red color with hints of orange or brown at the rim, reflecting its age.
It offers a complex and intense bouquet. You get aromas of dried fruits (such as blackcurrants and prunes), cedar, tobacco, leather, earthy notes, and subtle hints of spices and herbs. There are also some secondary and tertiary aromas, including truffles, forest floor, and even a touch of smoke.
On the palate, it provides a rich and concentrated experience. Flavors of dried fruits, cedar, tobacco, leather, and earthiness are prominent, with the potential for additional complexity from decades of aging. The tannins have softened significantly, giving the wine a velvety and silky texture. The acidity is still nicely present, contributing to the wine's structure and balance.
The structure of Château Latour 1961 have evolved to a harmonious and well-integrated state. The tannins, acidity, and alcohol are well balanced, resulting in a wine with finesse and elegance.
The finish is super long and lingering, with a complex and evolving aftertaste that showcases the wine's depth and maturity.

As with any aged wine, the quality and condition of a bottle from 1961 can vary depending on its storage history. Proper cellar conditions, including temperature and humidity control, are crucial for preserving the quality of wines over such a long period. Additionally, wines from this era have the potential for remarkable longevity, but they can also reach a point where they are past their prime.

Tasting a Château Latour 1961 is a rare and extraordinary experience, as these wines are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts. Such bottles are exceptionally valuable and can be quite limited in availability, so if you have the opportunity to taste one, it should be savored and appreciated for its historical and oenological significance. 100 points”

It was an great tasting with the Grand Crus from the Kirchberg de Barr, an excellent vineyard based on limestone rock and clay. Within the Kirchberg de Barr is located the  famous Clos Zisser. With an area of 9 hectares this Clos is Domaine André Lorentz's monopoly terroir. Its south-east orientation allows the grapes to ripen over a long period under ideal conditions.

Ken Gargett, Wine Writer (Australia)  had a tasting of  15 Wines  from  3 Producers

Hugh Hamilton Loose Lips III NV – This wine goes against all the rules of conventional wisdom. A non-vintage red that blends Malbec (40%), Mataro (14%) and Grenache (8%) with the white grapes of Viognier (20%) Pinot Gris (11%) and Sauvignon Blanc (7%). Is there any other wine on the planet made up of this combination? It sounds like a trainwreck but the result is surprisingly good. Pale crimson in colour, this is soft and fragrant with notes of florals and herbs, red fruits and blackcurrant leaves. Some hints of undergrowth. Bright, fresh and exuberant with a soft, lingering finish. Drink now for a year or two. 91.
