Barolo 2018 Part I / According to the tastings I made, I can conclude that 2018 is a vintage of great cleanliness, beautiful exaltation of the fruit, in terms of elegance, tension and depth.

A year of great impact right from the start, but at the same time the crunchiness of the raw material, in combination with the very delicate texture of the tannins, make us assume that this is a vintage with great drinkability and remarkable aging potential.

Roccapesta Morellino di Scansano DOCG Riserva Calestaia 2016 / 97+p. Emblematic wine for this winery, picture of the versatility of Sangiovese. On the nose, fruits of undergrowth, blackberries above all. Then, balsamic nuances of star anise; again, officinal trace of thyme and pepper leaf. The fresh sip shows an excellent fullness enhanced by iodized tannins.

Moselle 2019 is the vintage of balance, tension, great stylistic rigor and longevity. Acidity, density and tension are the strengths that will make this vintage unique and will make it enter the “hall of fame” of the Moselle vintages.

2019 presents wines with a well-defined stylistic imprint right from the start where the characteristics of the vine and Moselle are enhanced to the maximum of the vintage.

JOSEF FISCHER Riesling Smaragd Ried Steiger 2017 / This excellent riesling of structured elegance returns the salty Danube air. Its nose reveals kiwi, peach and orange aromas. Its mouth is rich, plentiful and wide, with the same compactness, density and intensity of a dramatic and greatly interpreted film. It is characterized also by a vivid sharpness and a great flavour, like in a perfect scenery or in a romantic picnic by the riverside.

Luca Gardini / BWW2024 Finalist, Wine Writer (Italy)  had a tasting of  23 Wines  from  21 Producers

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino vintage, in general, could recall 90s’ vintages, or to come to more recent years, the 2008 vintage. Briefly, it was an important harvest for those who dared and risked by bringing the grapes to full maturity and by sacrificing some bunches. It is a vintage with great characteristics of longevity, with a Sangiovese that proved to be very territorial, in short, capable of showing all its complexity. As a result we have wines of beautiful colour, with strong alcoholic content but well balanced by high acidity values, which then result juicy and fresh on the palate. Frank aromas, broad bouquets of scents, while the palate is elegant, with soft and ripe tannins. Complexity, without losing finesse and territoriality.
Vintage 2018

According to the tastings carried out, I can conclude that 2018 is a vintage of great finesse, delicacy and elegance. These wines are taut, vertical, with refined and well-integrated tannins, and this translates into a great pleasure of sip from the very beginning, as well as remarkable ageing abilities.
